United States Establishes New Division to Advance Women’s Health Research

WASHINGTON DC | October 19, 2026 | Health Pana

The United States government has established a new Women’s Health Division at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a White House task force to strengthen research into women’s health conditions.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing the initiatives, with First Lady Melania Trump supporting the effort to address gaps in medical research affecting women.

The initiative aims to expand research into conditions that have historically received insufficient attention, including endometriosis, maternal health conditions, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease and stroke.

The new division will operate alongside the NIH’s existing Office of Research on Women’s Health, with a broader mandate to advance women’s health research and care.

The White House task force is expected to coordinate efforts across the federal government to identify research priorities and improve understanding of women’s health needs.

The initiative highlights the importance of evidence-based research in improving diagnosis, prevention and treatment for women. However, the executive order does not specify dedicated funding targets for the new programmes.
