United States and DR Congo Sign $1.2 Billion Health Partnership

The United States and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have signed a major five-year health partnership valued at $1.2 billion, aimed at strengthening Congo’s healthcare system and combating infectious diseases.

According to official statements, the agreement includes approximately $900 million in U.S. support alongside $300 million in increased domestic investment from the Congolese government.

The partnership will focus on critical public health priorities including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and maternal and child health services. Officials say the initiative is designed to reinforce Congo’s national health infrastructure, improve disease surveillance systems, and expand access to essential healthcare services.

The agreement represents part of Washington’s broader global health engagement strategy, emphasizing bilateral cooperation and sustainable health system strengthening.
