February 16, 2026 | Kano, Nigeria

On February 16, 2026, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) inaugurated an Anti‑Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Kano.

The unit is designed to provide continuous oversight within the hospital, aiming to prevent financial malpractice, curb fraud, and promote ethical administration in the health sector. ICPC officials emphasized that ACTU will serve as a model for embedding anti-corruption mechanisms directly into healthcare institutions across Nigeria.

The initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthen accountability in public services, protect patient welfare, and enhance transparency in hospital operations. Hospital administrators and ICPC representatives stated that the unit will also provide training for staff, monitor financial transactions, and ensure that resources are used appropriately to improve healthcare delivery.
